El fiscal general de la República, Tarek William Saab, confirmó este miércoles el suicidio del coronel Marino Lugo, luego de su detención tras estar involucrado en la trama de corrupción denominada Pdvsa-Cripto.
«Funcionarios especializados en patología, medicina forense y criminalística adscritos a la Dirección General de Apoyo a la Investigación Penal del Ministerio Público acudieron al centro de reclusión respectivo para realizar reconocimiento del sitio del suceso», explicó el titular del Ministerio Público.

De acuerdo con Saab, las experticias recabadas por los especialistas determinaron que el deceso ocurrió por ahorcamiento.
Tras identificar el cuerpo del detenido, un médico forense acudió al Servicio Nacional de Medicina y Ciencias Forenses a practicar la autopsia.
Marino Lugo había sido imputado por los delitos de apropiación o distracción del patrimonio público, concierto para la celebración de contratos, evasión de procedimientos, controles o restricciones en licitaciones, legitimación de capitales, traición a la patria y asociación.
