En horas de la noche de este domingo 23 de julio de 2023, el comisario Douglas Rico informó a través de su cuenta de red social Instagram que fue destituido el comisario general José Pérez del CICPC.
La decisión se tomó, luego de que viralizara un video, donde se observaba al funcionario masturbándose, a través de una videollamada, con una mujer quien presuntamente sería su amante, una Mayor de la Guardia Nacional Bolivariana.

A partir de este domingo 23 de julio, el comisario General Luis Brito, toma el mando del Redip Los Andes, en sustitución de Pérez.
