El corredor Armando Serrano, de 23 años de edad, murió el domingo luego de que un conductor a bordo de una camioneta lo arrollara durante una práctica deportiva en la avenida Fuerzas Armadas de la ciudad de Maracaibo, en el estado Zulia.
Medios locales señalaron que el joven, que tenía Síndrome de Down, era parte del Club Team Runner JF, de la urbanización Canta Claro.

El alcalde de Maracaibo, Rafael Ramírez, informó el mismo día a través de sus redes sociales la captura del responsable.
“Fue capturado por la Policía de Maracaibo, el responsable de la muerte de Armando Serrano, joven con habilidades especiales, muy querido por la comunidad de corredores“, comunicó.
Además, el alcalde compartió un video en el que se observa al ciudadano Carlos Machado subir a la patrulla de la policía tras salir de su residencia. También publicó fotografías de la camioneta en la que arrolló al joven corredor.
Presuntamente, Machado se encontraba bajo los efectos del alcohol, aunque esta versión no ha sido confirmada por las autoridades locales.
